More than a farm

We're building a place where people can reconnect with nature, food and the stories behind them.

For nearly twenty years, Mads travelled the world as a professional snowboarder, building a life around adventure, freedom and the outdoors.

The Story Behind the Farm

That journey eventually led him to Stadlandet, where he purchased Sandvik Farm together with a close friend. Today, he runs the farm with Elin while continuing to develop Stad Kystmat—the farm's food brand built around traditional butchery, honest ingredients and food with a known origin.

From raising Viking sheep on the coastal heathlands and hunting in the surrounding mountains to running the butchery and developing new products, everything is guided by the same belief: animals deserve respect, craftsmanship matters and great food begins long before it reaches the table.

Together with Elin and his ten-year-old daughter, Lily, Mads hopes to build something that lasts—a farm, a business and a way of life that future generations will be proud to carry forward.

Who We Are

Elin came to Stadlandet two years ago, and it didn't take long before the farm became home.

Animals have always been at the heart of her life. Since childhood, she has found peace, purpose and joy in being surrounded by them, and today that passion shapes both her everyday life and her work at Sandvik Farm.

For Elin, good animal welfare means understanding each animal's natural behaviour, treating them with respect and allowing them to live as naturally as possible.

She believes people should know where their food comes from—not because it is always easy, but because understanding the journey behind every meal creates greater respect for the animals, the people who care for them and the landscapes that sustain them.

Through photography, film and storytelling, Elin shares life on the farm to inspire a deeper appreciation for Norwegian nature, farming traditions and the connection between people, animals and the land.

Why Buskapr?

Our name is inspired by the Old Norse word búskapr—a word that once described the life of the farm, the care of animals and the connection between people and the land.

At Buskapr, we carry that idea forward by creating experiences rooted in nature, traditional craftsmanship and respect for where our food comes from.

We don't just want to produce food.

We want to reconnect people with where it comes from.
